Sambucus mexicana (BLUE ELDERBERRY) (BLUE ELDERBERRY)


Handsome fast growing deciduous shrub, 6 - 12 feet. Many- stemmed. Bright green leaves. White clustered flat-topped flowers in August. Clusters of blue black edible berries. Attracts birds & wildlife. Sun or shade.

Sambucus racemosa (RED ELDERBERRY)


Attractive deciduous shrub, 5 - 8 feet. Widely branching. Bright red berries, for birds, not humans. Tolerates deep shade and poor soil. Prune as needed. Grows quickly, especially with water. Use this native generously.
